We are

Welcome to the website of DE Caversmill Theatre Company.
Bringing theatre to the heart of the community since 1993.

D E Caversmill Theatre Company is a local amateur theatre company, set up to give any child or adult from any walk of life, the chance to take part in theatre activities in our local community. This was the view over 24 years ago and we still follow the same ideals now. Our theatre company is active all the year round, not just at Panto time. We are involved in drama festivals, cabaret shows, murder mystery events and also provide live actors for themed events with local companies, also we teach drama so the students are ready for their LAMDA examinations. On this site you can find out more about our history, news about up and coming productions and how to book tickets for our productions and shows. You can also contact us for more information on how to get involved with theatre. Enjoy looking around and come back soon!

DE Caversmill Theatre Company was formed in 1993 as a fund raiser for Caverswall Scouts, the D of E, and the Windmill Venture Unit. The first show we produced was Cinderella at the old Meir Community Centre. Such was the success of this production, that the following year, the panto was performed at the Mitchell Memorial Theatre (now The Mitchell Arts Centre). We have progressed from a fund raising company to a full on Drama company that performs many different styles.

The subsequent 24 years have been a rollercoaster ride, with a total of 24 pantomimes. Our 2017/2018 production will be the 25th. The company has also been involved in the local One Act Play Festivals where we have been very successful. Our Murder Mystery Nights continue to break their own records. These have proved immensely popular, selling out almost overnight all over the area, including extra performances.

Auditions in January 2018 demonstrated the wealth of talent in the company, attracting old and new faces. Rehearsals for "SEUSSICAL" are in full swing ready for the show to be performed at the Rep Theatre in July 2018.

We realised our ambition to start a drama club that gets all those taking part ready for LAMDA exams..... these nights consist of workshops and drama performances and our first round of exams has yielded wonderful results..

We have now begun to broaden our horizons by venturing into the world of Musical Theatre, with our debut Musical, Annie, proving to be a resounding success and establishing D.E. Caversmill as a major player in local community theatre. This company might still be young, but there is a vibrant family atmosphere and we strive to be the best that we can become and to give young people the chance to perform without major expense.. So we are excited to be presenting our 2nd Musical "SEUSSICAL" . We continue to strive for excellence in everything we do, so the next step is to expand and build on the success of our LAMDA classes.
Keep checking on this website for future events.

Rachel Shenton to open DE Caversmills first signed panto.

DE Caversmill Theatre Company are extremely proud to announce their first Signed Performance of their Pantomime this year which will be performed on the evening of 30th December 2017. They are proud to announce that the performance will be opened by none other than famous local actress and documented Ambassador for Deaf Awareness and writer of the much celebrated Short Film “The Silent Child”, Rachel Shenton.

They will also have a Deaf Choir from local Deaf Charity DeafLinks greeting audiences in the Foyer. DeafLinks have been extremely supportive of the event and one of their very own will be dancing in the Pantomime this year.

DE Caversmill have been fund-raising to raise funds for an Interpreter for the performance to ensure they can ensure as many children as possible have the opportunity to watch a Pantomime this Christmas and New Year with tickets a bargain price of just £7 for a child.

DE Caversmill Theatre Company are celebrating their 25th Anniversary year with the most popular pantomime of them all, Cinderella. The story goes like: With a wicked Step-Mother (Melanie Fox-Crowther) and two jealous Ugly Step Sisters (Ian Hill and Rob Mills) who keep her enslaved and dressed in rags, Cinderella (played by Kirsty Heath) stands no chance of attending the Royal Ball. However when her Fairy Godmother (Sarah Jablonski) appears she magically transforms her reality into a dream come true as she enchants the handsome Prince Charming (Rebecca Mills) at the Royal Ball. Add into the mix Dandini (Siobahn Hammonds), Buttons (Scotty Bagnall), the two bumbling builders men (Lizzie Capper-Mills and James Murphy) and a bumbling Baron (Dan Tobias Lewis-Dayle) it will be so much fun to see how the story ends for our Cinderella. With rousing songs performed by a 55 strong cast this will truly be one not to be missed.

Cinderella will be performed at the Stoke Repertory Theatre, Leek Road, Stoke on 29th, 30th December 2017 and 5th, 6th and 7th January 2018. Matinee performances are on the 30th December 2017 and 6th and 7th January 2018. Ticket prices are a bargain at just £9 for Adults and £7 for Children and OAP’s.

What We Do

Here are just some of our activities. In addition, we put on Summer Shows and occasionally provide live actors for theme events. We have now begun a new journey into the world of Musicals. We are excited to see where this new direction will take us.

Our hugely successful pantomimes are performed every year to sell out audiences. We enjoy fabulous feedback from our audiences who keep coming back year after year. Our pantos represent a wonderful family afternoon or evening out, with our own special brand of mayhem. jokes and sillyness. We usually audition in June, so keep checking our "What's On" page for audition information. Even better, sign up to our Mailing List to be kept informed about all our activities.

One Act Play Festival

Our company has entered the All England Theatre Festival for a number of years, scooping many awards in Junior, Youth and Adult sections. Our plays have progressed to the Quarter and Semi-finals on numerous occasions. The Stoke on Trent One Act Play Festival serves as the first round of the competition.

Murder Mysteries

Our Murder Mystery Dining Experiences are performed at The Red House, Caverswall. Enjoy a two or three course meal whilst putting your sleuthing skills to the test. The popularity of our Murder Mystery evenings is ever expanding, with all performances selling out completely and extra performances being booked for private functions. Some guests even book for our next event before leaving at the end of the night. The intimate setting of these productions adds a new challenge for our actors, as they are in amongst the audience rather than on a conventional stage. These performances are a significant fundraising source, as our Murder Mystery team strives to uphold our philosophy of affordable accessible theatre for all.

In 2016, we set out on a new mission to break into the world of Musical Theatre. Taking our vast experience of producing quality pantomime, we took things that one step further and produced a massively successful production of Annie. We are building on this success by putting together an even bigger and more ambitious project, as our production of Seussical - The Musical begins it's journey to the stage in early 2018. We might be relatively new to musical theatre, but we have arrived with a bang and we are committed to becoming one of the finest theatre companies in the area.

Lamda Exams

Our company has now begun to offer training towards LAMDA exams, in order to promote and support local talent.
